ADMINISTRATION
Azkabella: This is the site's main administrator, the final word on any matter and who you can turn to if you have any questions.
The Sorting Hat: This administrator reviews and sorts new character application as well as tidy up the boards whenever they get a bit jumbled. In charge of archiving threads at the end of plot periods (i.e. fall term, winter holidays, spring term, Hogsmeade weekends, summer)
The Delivery Owl: This admin delivers the weekly Prophet that will give you updates on the site's stats as well as highlight the thread of the week and the post of the week. It'll also update you on plot and assign owl post threads in the Owlery.
Professors: Your professors moderate their classroom boards and staff offices as well as give/take house points for behavior.
Head Boy/Head Girl: These characters are required to do one patrol thread per semester and are in charge of arranging the balls and feasts at Hogwarts. They can also give/take house points for behavior.
Prefects: Similar to the Head Boy and Head Girl, House Prefects must do one patrol thread per term and help their student heads with the balls and feasts. They also give/take house points for behavior.

MEMBERS AND MEMBERSHIP
Joining the Site: You must create and activate an account on the site before you can apply. To apply for a student or adult character, click here.
Multiple Accounts: You can currently apply for more than one character until the plot is on its feet. However, we do expect high standards of literacy/writing ability, and if you do not meet those standards you may not be granted a second character. In the future, all second characters will be 50 credits and any character after that will be 75.
Activity: Everyone will be granted some leniency while we wait for membership totals to rise, but do try to aim for three in-character posts per week. We will not begin docking credits for inactivity until later in the year. However, we will begin granting credits for those who meet the three posts per week minimum.
Attendance: If you notify us of any absences that will affect your activity beforehand (try for at least a week beforehand if you can) then you will not lose credits during that absence. You cannot, however, expect not to lose credits if you notify us after the fact.
Immaturity: Do not pick a fight, make false accusations, or in any way bully another player. That will get you banned in a heartbeat.
Prejudice and Discrimination: 1. All forms of prejudice and discrimination are prohibited. That means no:
• Racism • Sexism • Homophobia • Attacking because of religious or political beliefs • Making fun of or endorsing such things as genocide or wars • Grudges We take this very seriously. Do not expect any lenience on this matter.

CHARACTERS
The Basics: As a participant you must have a first and last name for your character. If you’d like to be a canon character please make sure first that the character is available. We encourage creativity and all members are invited to create your own character, also known as a non-canon character. Please note: Non-canon characters cannot be relatives of any canon characters. This means no Barbra Wesley’s who are Arthur's long lost third cousin once removed. You may also not carry the last names of canon characters (for example: Potter, Evans, Malfoy) unless you are playing a canon character or with the consent of the site administrators.
Special Powers and Abilities: As students are not typically just animagus, metamorphmagus, legimens, occlumens, or possess any other sort of extra magical powers you are not automatically allowed to have them. Students are also not allowed to apparate without license. If you would like to have these powers, it needs to be stated in your application. Adding it to your application does NOT necessarily mean that it will be approved.
Heritage and Blood Purity: NO werewolves, sirens, giants, vampires, banshees, elves, trolls or other mixes of magical creatures can be part of your bloodline unless you are a canon character. If you would like to have these powers, it needs to be stated in your application. Adding it to your application does NOT necessarily mean it will be approved.

POSTING RULES
General Guidelines: Please try to possess a little bit of grammar logic when you are speaking. For example: “Wurd Up Jill! OMG U R SO COOL!” is not appropriate for this site. Please use a little common sense. This is a literate site, so please try to use good grammar. Administrators have the right to edit, change or mark posts that are not decently written.
Font Colors: We ask that all members use the default font color, as we have many skins and not all font colors are compatible with the backgrounds. Here are some places you can use colors: Personal text, signature and spells. Other than that, no colors… This applies to IN CHARACTER threads only. The General Common Room and out of character threads are fair game to colors.
Mechanics: When your character speaks it needs to be in quotations. These words cannot be italicized or bold. These spoken words must be written in a grammatically correct way:Professor Dumbledore opened the door to find a kitten on the front step getting rained on. “Poor kitten,” he said. When you are speaking out of character on any thread except the OOC boards then please make your font is clearly marked with: “OOC,” “Out of Character,” etc.OOC: I can’t believe you just said that! When you post someone else's comment, or a third person comment please post it as bold.”Meow,” said the kitten. Professor Dumbledore smiled. For all other random parts of speech like thoughts, please post it as italicized.I wonder if this is Minerva? Professor Dumbledore couldn’t help wondering.
(The above is also taken verbatim from Lily Evans on HOTW)

CREDITS
Earning Credits: You earn credits by staying active. Each week that your character makes three in-character posts earns you five credits, and you can earn an additional five if your character makes Post of the Week in that week's Prophet. Participation in OOC-threads and weekly polls and contests will also earn you credits. Also, if someone applies and lists your character as a reference, you will earn 10 credits.
Losing Credits: For every week where you do not meet the three posts per week minimum, you will lose five points. You will also lose credits if you break any of the rules, i.e. post images wider than 500 pixels or neglect to follow the posting rules. If your credit count goes to zero you will be marked inactive. You can only be reactivated twice, and you must apply to be reactivated.
What Credits Can Be Used For: - Additional Characters Second character - 50 credits, any more after are 75
- Character Residences 25 credits will earn you your own personal residence
- Owl Post 10 credits will earn you an owl post board where your friends can write you letters.
